Jonas Algers is a PhD student at the division for Environmental and Energy Systems Studies at Lund University, Sweden where he studies the political economy of steel decarbonization.
Algers have participated in a number of research projects, most recently the Circular and Sustainable Steel Transitions joint project with Stockholm Environment Institute and Lund University, focusing on the deployment of low-carbon steelmaking. His work has been published by the Columbia Center for Global Energy Policy and the OECD.
Prior to his work on steel decarbonisation, he worked on industrial transitions at the Norwegian union-backed thinktank Manifest Centre for Societal Analysis, where he primarily focused on the development of the Norwegian offshore wind sector.
He has been a visiting researcher at the OECD steel unit and holds a master’s degree in economics from The New School.
