Wally Patawaran advises non-profits and philanthropic foundations on issues of strategy, implementation, communications, impact measurement, systems thinking, and evaluation. He is an accredited professional coach, and a published author on next-generation foundation practices and philanthropic strategy. Since 2011, he has managed various social impact initiatives as a foundation funder, champion, and thought-partner. Most recently, he led The JPB Foundation’s health-related grantmaking at the intersection of poverty, sustainability, and the economy. Previously, at The John A. Hartford Foundation, he directed a portfolio of grants to advance the health and wellbeing of older adults. Wally is a past member of non-profit boards and grantmaking affinity groups. He is also an active member of a global community of practice working to promote organizational transformation through inner development. He has written on organizational culture, staff development and recruitment, human-centered workflow design, strategic foresight, and team learning and innovation. A graduate of Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health and the London School of Economics, Wally began his career as an organizational operations consultant as well as a business researcher and financial analyst for several Wall Street firms.
